ACELLULAR AMNION DERIVED THERAPEUTIC COMPOSITIONS

Publication number: 9,132,156

Application number: 14/593,415

Acellular amnion derived therapeutic compositions are described having a number of various compositional embodiments. An acellular amnion derived therapeutic composition has essentially no live or active amniotic stems cells. The amniotic stem cells may be destroyed, and the cells and cell debris may be removed from the acellular amnion derived therapeutic composition. An acellular amnion derived therapeutic composition may comprise micronized amniotic membrane particles, and/or amniotic fluid. An acellular amnion derived therapeutic composition may be a dispersion of micronized amniotic membrane combined with a fluid, such as plasma, saline, amniotic fluid, combinations thereof and the like. An acellular amnion derived therapeutic composition may be combined with a matrix component to form a composite. An acellular amnion derived therapeutic composition may be used in conjunction with a composition comprising viable cells, such as stem cells.

HAND OPERABLE JUICER

Publication number: 9,095,169

Application number: 13/861,514

A hand operable juicer having a handle extending from beneath a juice receptacle is described. The handle has a drive link end that couples with a drive mechanism to rotate a drive shaft that extends up through a drive shaft conduit and couples with a pulping crown. Gear and crank type drive mechanisms are described. In some embodiments of the invention, the drive mechanism is configured to provide a rotational advantage, whereby a certain degree of rotation of the handle around the pulping crown rotational axis produces a higher degree of rotation of the pulping crown. The hand operable juicer described is easy to operate and easy to clean.

ACTUATING BIRD-WING ARROW BLADE

Publication number: 9,052,170

Application number: 14/453,599

A bird-wing broadhead blade is a blade that has a free end that is positioned in a back or downstream position from a fixed end. The free end of the bird-wing blade extends out, like a bird opens its wings to fly. A bird-wing broadhead blade may incorporate a shape memory alloy material that has a set shape, such as by thermal setting. A shape memory alloy bird-wing broadhead blade may be deformed into a strained shape and retained until hitting an object. When the shape memory blade is released, it will move into the set shape automatically. A shape memory alloy is a metal alloy that “remembers” its set shape and has superelastic properties. A spring deployment system may also be used to deploy one or more bird-wing blades. A spring may be configured upstream or downstream of the fixed end of the blades.

Inverting wing propulsion system

Publication number: 9,016,621

Application number: 12/312,063

An inverting wing propulsion system is disclosed. A vehicle body having a left side and a right side is provided with a wing drive assembly. At least two wings are operatively associated with the wing drive. At least one wing extends from each of the right side and the left side of the body. The wings are adapted to be driven by the wing drive assembly to engage in a reciprocating motion between a raised orientation and a lowered orientation. The reciprocating motion is characterized by a downward arcuate motion, where said wings fully extend from the body so as to generate an upward thrust, and by an upward motion, where the wings are retracted so as to produce reduced, minimized or negligible downward thrust.

PORTABLE POWER SUPPLY

Publication number: 9,007,023

Application number: 13/420,169

In one aspect, the present disclosure describes an apparatus that may include a battery unit including one or more lithium-ion battery cells, and a charging unit configured with a first automatic shut-off, where the automatic shut-off is responsive to detection of an upper threshold voltage level of the battery unit. The apparatus may include an inverter configured with a second automatic shut-off, where the second automatic shut-off is responsive to detection of a lower threshold voltage level of the battery unit, and an input connection functionally connected to the charging unit. The apparatus may be configured to isolate the battery unit from the inverter responsive to detecting both (a) the input connection is disconnected from an input voltage source, and (b) the inverter is shut off.

COGGING TORQUE REDUCTION DEVICE FOR ELECTRICAL MACHINES

Publication number: 9,006,951

Application number: 13/536,820

Electrical machines, for example transverse flux machines and/or commutated flux machines, may be “balanced” to achieve reduced overall cogging torque via utilization of one or more cogging torque reduction devices. Cogging torque reduction devices may be configured and/or otherwise customized in order to reduce and/or minimize cogging torque in an electrical machine, by generating a counteracting cogging torque waveform that at least partially counteracts and/or cancels the initial cogging torque waveform of the electrical machine.

ELECTROCHEMICAL COMPRESSION SYSTEM

Publication number: 9,005,411

Application number: 13/739,539

An electrochemical compressor includes one or more electrochemical cells through which a working fluid flows, and an external electrical energy source electrically connected to the electrochemical cell. Each electrochemical cell includes an anode connected to the electrical energy source; a cathode connected to the electrical energy source; an ion exchange membrane disposed between and in electrical contact with the cathode and the anode to pass an electrochemically motive material of the working fluid from the anode to the cathode, the ion exchange membrane comprising polar ionic groups attached to nonpolar chains; and a non-aqueous solvent comprising polar molecules, the polar molecules of the non-aqueous solvent being associated with and electrostatically attracted to the polar ionic groups of the ion exchange membrane.

WEIGHT LIFTING APPARATUS

Publication number: 9,005,087

Application number: 13/594,689

A weight lifting apparatus having a weight lifting bar, and in some cases, a weight lifting stand configured to support the weight lifting bar, is described. The weight lifting bar is a linearly contiguous bar having a neck wrap portion, two elongated members extending down approximately an arm’s length from the neck wrap portion to at least the waist of a lifter and weight posts. Linearly contiguous means that the primary bar components, including the neck warp portion, elongated members and weight posts, are all part of a single connected bar having a length and a first end and second end. The weight lifting apparatus may comprise a stand configured to support the weight lifting bar. A stand may comprise a main portion, a step-up platform and a weight lifting bar support comprising two support members extending from the main portion or the step-up platform, and a bar rest.

BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Publication number: 9,000,935

Application number: 13/077,136

The present application describes, among other things, a battery management system. The battery management system includes a computing device and first and second battery unit monitoring modules. The computing device includes an output data request port and an input data port. Each battery unit monitoring module is connected in parallel to the input data port of the computing device. In response to a data request from the output data request port of the computing device, the first battery unit monitoring module transmits data of the first battery unit to the input data port of the computing device, and transmits a data request to the second battery unit monitoring module. In response to the data request from the first battery unit monitoring module, the second battery unit monitoring module transmits data of the second battery unit to the input data port of the computing device.
